So far we have escape the spring frost which destroyed most of our crop
last year. Despite the lack of rain and low water level in the dam, the vines
are looking very good at the moment, lush and green. It must be all that
blood & bone, an organic fertiliser that we applied last winter that’s
starting to kick in. Next week I am attending a two-day workshop on biodynamic
viticulture. We always have been environmentally sensitive, but now it’s time
to burry the cow horn and develop the magic potion for the vines.
The 2005 vintage is out in force and selling very well. The wines are
looking very good and have already two years maturity, with are compliments.
The Chardonnay with it’s flinty overtones and the Pinot with it’s savoury and
spicy characters are drinking very nicely at the moment and will be doing so
for another five to eight years.
The easiest way to solve your Christmas shopping is to buy a mixed dozen
of Wedgetail wines and give a bottle or two to your friends and relatives..... now
how easy is that.
