Vintage report
The last vats of cabernet are finishing fermenting and we will be pressing them before the end of April .
The growing season stated as per the last few years - dry and unpromising. We had to keep our heads down and hope for a down pour at some stage. On the 7th of March the sky finally opened up and in two days we received 100mm of beautiful sweet rain.
Our big dam fill up to 80% capacity, the first time since 2005.
By that stage we had already picked our Chardonnay and Pinot. The wet ground gave the vines a second life and they started to grow small shoots just like in spring time. The Shiraz and Cabernet got a good drink and with the stunning autumn weather of 24C on average and blue sky, the vines went on to ripen the grapes beautifully.
So yes I am happy and feeling a bit more relaxed.
