We just bottled the 2010 reds- Pinot, Shiraz and North Face. The
wines look great, with their generous mouth feel and exciting
structure. Always something to look forward to in the wine industry,
since we work a year a head of the retail sales.
I
should really mentioned that since we have planted the vines in 1994
we’ve never experienced such a mild and humid February. Lucky I had a
swim in Barry’s pool last week because it looks like summer is over and
perhaps a challenging Autumn ahead, especially for those with big
Cabernet or Shiraz crops, because for those who don’t know, the more
grapes on the vine the longer it takes to ripen those grapes and
sometimes well, time runs out and the cold and dark winter days set in.
It
should be a very exciting vintage for cool climate varieties such as
Pinot and Chardonnay, for those who have fruit of course.
Autumn is a great time to visit the hills just out of Melbourne,
so get in your car and come and see us, the country side looks
gorgeous, the air is so clean you will be able to smell again and your
taste buds will get invigorated by few Wedgetail wines.
See you soon -in the country.
