Vintage is over in southern hemisphere for 2011. The last vats of Shiraz, Cabernet or Sangiovese are all tucked away in the cellar. Pruning as started in between rainy days.
We have had drizzle almost every day for the last two weeks. It is peaceful and resting of course. The soil is slowly getting saturated with moisture and hopefully the sub soil where the big vine roots live will be getting some good moisture also.
May has been good for wine sales. Top end restaurants like Tatsuya’s and Aria in Sydney have stoked up Wedgetail Pinot and Chardonnay. Brisbane have been buying also as they slowly recover from the floods.
I am traveling to Veneto, the region in the north east of Italy, in the month of June. A question of recharging the batteries and hoping for some inspiration from the Dolomites & Co. Will tell you all about it in July. Stay warm or cool pending.
Cheers
Guy
