Nillumbik Hills Open Cellars|Spring '26

Nillumbik Hills Open Cellars is back for its 25th year, bringing together ten family-run wineries dotted across the quiet western side of the Yarra Valley.  Here, you don’t just taste the wines. You meet the people who make them, hear our stories and and see the places we call home.

This year marks a double celebration at Wedgetail. Open Cellars is turning 25, while we’re celebrating our first year since opening the cellar door.

A Year In At Wedgetail

Twelve months ago when we opened the cellar door, we crossed our fingers and hoped people would actu

ally turn up. Since then, we've poured a lot of wine and met so many great people.

So we're marking the occasion in the best way we know how: with new wine, good food, live music and a weekend of people coming together around the cellar door.

Four New Release Wines

Down in our underground barrel room, four new wines have been quietly taking shape from fruit grown right here at Wedgetail: fermenting, settling and slowly finding their character. Now they’re ready for their debut at Open Cellars.

  • 2026 Estate Sauvignon Blanc

  • 2026 Estate Pinot Noir Rosé

  • 2025 Estate Pinot Noir

  • 2025 Estate Sparkling Pinot Noir

We are also pouring a selection of museum-release wines.  These older bottles have been resting in the barrel room for many years, and Open Cellars is a rare opportunity to taste them alongside the new releases.

Saturday 17 October: Pizza And Live Music

On Saturday, Langan's will be firing up the wood oven and serving fresh pizza throughout the afternoon.

Stephen McCullough, a The Voice Australia alumnus, will be joining us with live music.

Grab a glass, grab a slice and find a spot overlooking the vines.

Sunday 18 October: BBQ And Live Music

Sunday belongs to Ramblers American BBQ, cooked low and slow over the pit and finished with glazes and vinegars made from our very own wines.

Folk duo Speckle & Cheque will be playing classics through the afternoon.

Wine, BBQ, live music and a vineyard backdrop. Sunday makes its own case.

Local Creatives, All Weekend

We’ll also have a handful of local creatives joining us across the weekend, with their wares on display. It’s another good excuse to wander, browse and perhaps head home with something other than a few bottles of wine.

Come For The Wine. Stay For The Afternoon

Our focus at Wedgetail is simple: making seriously good wine from grapes we tend ourselves, grown right here on the property.

Add wood-fired pizza, a BBQ pit, live music across both days and a cellar door set amongst the vines, and you’ve got the makings of a fine weekend.

So bring your wine crew, come hungry and make a day of it.
